Our other UNESCO audio guides in Sicily

Villa Romana del Casale and Ortigia: two World Heritage sites a few hours from here, told with the same approach.

Sicily has seven sites on the UNESCO World Heritage list, and three of them can be strung together in a single trip across the south of the island. Besides Valley of the Temples we have produced a narrated audio guide for Villa Romana del Casale and for Ortigia. Same method throughout: professionally recorded narration, a route in sequence, a map with GPS positioning, no app to install from a store and no device to rent at the gate.

The two sites

Mosaici della Villa Romana del Casale, Piazza Armerina — Patrimonio UNESCO, SiciliaUNESCO World Heritage

Piazza Armerina, Sicily

Villa Romana del Casale

A late-Roman villa buried by a landslide and recovered almost intact: over 3,500 square metres of mosaic floors, the best preserved Roman mosaics anywhere, told room by room.

  • The Great Hunt, a 60-metre corridor of African scenes
  • The “bikini girls”, Roman athletes of the fourth century
  • The mosaic tour, room by room

From Agrigento: about 100 km · 1 hr 45 min by car

Piazza Duomo a Ortigia, Siracusa — Patrimonio UNESCO, SiciliaUNESCO World Heritage

Syracuse, Sicily

Ortigia

The island where Syracuse was founded in 734 BC: one square kilometre holding twenty-seven centuries of Greek, Roman, Arab, Norman and Baroque history, all of it walkable.

  • The Duomo, a Greek temple of Athena turned into a cathedral
  • The Arethusa Spring, fresh water a few steps from the sea
  • A walking route across the whole island

From Agrigento: about 215 km · 2 hrs 45 min by car

What they have in common

Professional narration

Scripts written by people who know the sites, recorded by real voices in a studio — not speech synthesis reading a label.

It actually guides you on site

Stops in sequence, a map and GPS positioning: you always know where you are and what comes next.

No store, no rental

It opens in your browser and installs like an app on Android and iPhone. Works with your own headphones.

A UNESCO route across southern Sicily

The three sites lie along a diagonal crossing the island from south-west to south-east. A comfortable route takes three nights: Agrigento for the Valley of the Temples, Piazza Armerina for Villa Romana del Casale, Syracuse for Ortigia. Each leg is under three hours by car, and each site deserves between half a day and a full day.
